St Giles Hospice Charity Fundraiser

We first spoke to St Giles Hospice back in the summer to ask them how First Choice could help support the work of the care team at St Giles. We have supported the hospice for a number of years and felt that Price Buster would be a really good way to involve our customers in some fund raising. At the same time providing some exposure for St Giles.

The importance of the St Giles Hospice to the local community

St Giles Hospice provides care for local people and their families, living with a potentially incurable illness. It costs £9m per year to provide this care and they believe that there are at least 1,000 more people locally who could benefit from their specialist care, if funds were available.

The majority of St Giles’s costs are covered by donations and the kind generosity of the public as well as from the many volunteers who raise money on their behalf.

Grab a cake, get a great deal and help raise money for charity: how the initiative worked

A double page spread in Price Buster 39 included some very tempting offers from our cakes, pastries, tray bakes, coffees, teas and biscuits range. The idea was to offer customers some great deals and attach a ‘donation value’ to each, so customers would save money and support a really worthy cause.

Every time a product was purchased, First Choice registered the donation value for that product and at the end of the promotional period the final total reached was calculated.

A huge thank you for helping to support this initiative

First Choice are delighted to announce that our customers helped raise a very impressive £504.50. This is a great figure to reach in such a short time and we really are very grateful to all our customers who took part.
